Two standard 3m Temporary Suspended Platforms were supplied to assist in the internal cleaning and repair of the ROM Silo located in the crusher plant of Two Rivers Platinum Mine in Steelpoort, Mpumalanga.
The contractor on this project required access to series of concrete grain storage silos in Zimbabwe in order to carry out concrete repairs and then apply a coating to the external surfaces.
Concor Karina Africa Joint Venture (CKJV) constructed the concrete chimneys at Kusile Power Station, and as part of this project SkyJacks was contracted to design, build and install a custom 3m dia. circular platform to provide a safe and stable work platform for the contractor to install cat ladders and landing platforms inside the stacks.
This custom circular platform system was designed, fabricated and installed for Karena-Concor JV to give them access to the internals of flues at Medupi Power Station, allowing them to carry out remedial work including corrosion protection and welding.
In order to access the upstream face of the Neckartal Dam wall in Namibia to carry out concrete remedial works, we used two sets of six IPE 120 sections connected together by pin joints forming a continuous articulating beam that could follow the curvature of the spillway. These beams were then connected to two aluminium outrigger beams from which the 8m standard platform was suspended.
Taking into consideration the high summertime ambient temperatures in Thabazimbi, Teichmann Structures contracted SkyJacks to install Temporary Suspended Platforms to provide access to carry out repair work on the concrete silos. The key motivation for this was the significantly reduced manhours required to install the platforms when compared to scaffolding erection.
A custom circular platform, designed to be lifted to the top of the stack in eight individual sections and taken into the flue through a 900mm x 600mm opening, was designed and fabricated for Stefanutti Stocks to carry out the internal removal of clinkers and subsequent concrete repair of Sasol Synfuels Flue 4 in Secunda, Mpumalanga Province.
To provide top to bottom access, right around the buffer, and within a shortened timeframe, SkyJacks were contracted by Structural Maintenance Special Services to provide a suspended access solution that would allow them to carry out inspections and repair work on the D22 Storage Buffer Silo at Sappi’s Ngodwana Mill near Nelspruit.
